Miss Germantown

Lydia Waldrop

Being Miss Germantown Volunteer has been something that has always been a dream of mine, and in August of 2021, that dream became a reality. From my grandparents living here for over 50 years, to my parents both holding jobs in this city, to my extended family living here as well, this town holds a very special place in my heart. Throughout my year as Miss Germantown I was able to go into several different classrooms and read to the kids while teaching them all about loving themselves. One of my favorite memories from my year was when a little girl asked me what this funny hat was on my head! Being an Early Education major at the University of Memphis, it is so important to me to teach the kids as well as read to them, so without this opportunity I would have never been able to do the amazing things that I have done so far. It is such an honor to represent a city that rallies together to support the community. Seeing Germantown celebrate each other has been a highlight of mine from this year as well! Thank you Germantown for your unending support and your outpouring of love. I will always hold onto this special year that I was able to share with you all. It has been a true honor to serve you!

With love,

Lydia Waldrop, Miss Germantown Volunteer
